What age is my Dog

Does my Neo Mastiff have a human age?

The answer is yes!!!!

Most people think that a dogs aged 1 year is equivalent to 7 human years. This is not correct.

Different calculations are used for different sized dogs

Neo Mastiffs are in the large dog range.

All Puppies mature fast in their first year.

At 3 month puppies are equivalent to  3 years 9 months in human years

At 6 months  they     are  equivalent to 7 years 6 months in human years

At 9 months  they    are  equivalent to 11 years 3 months in human years

At 12 months they  are   equivalent to 15 human years

In their Second year they are equivalent to 24 human years

Third   year they are 28 human years

Fourth year they are 32 human years

Fifth Year   they are 36 human years

In their sixth year the larger the dog the more quickly it will mature Neo Mastiffs fall into this range.

6 years     =       45 human years

7 years    =        50 human years

8 years     =       55 human years

9 years    =        61 human years

10 years   =       66 human years

11 years   =       72 human years

12 years   =       77 human years

13 years   =       82 human years

14 years   =      88 human years

15 years   =      93 human years

If you do not know your dog’s age there are a few different ways to find out how old your dog is.

1.Check their teeth

This may not be real accurate as it will depend on how your dog was treated before your got them.

At 8 weeks puppies have all their baby teeth

At 7 months they have all of their permanent teeth which are white and very clean.

At 1 to 2 years the teeth are a little duller, and back teeth can have a yellow colour.

At 3 to 5 years teeth can have some tooth wear and also have a tartar build up.

At 5 to 10 years teeth could have some disease, and more tooth wear.

At 10 to 15 years teeth can be missing, they will be quite worn and also have a heavy tartar build up.

2 Vet Check

A vet can do a complete checkup, do tests, or simply look at their joints, muscles, bones or internal organs to give a more accurate age.

Older Dogs could show signs of aging.

Other thing to consider are grey hairs around mouth and other areas on the dog’s coat.
